Norte Salvaje (Northern Wildness)
Original language: Basque
Subtitles: Spanish, Basque, English, French
Thousands of people had to go into exile as a result of the great wars of the beginning of the century in Europe. The flights multiplied progressively, and many Spanish families were obliged to seek asylum beyond their borders. For these movements from North to South, the doors were opened. But what about now? How is the transit through this vertical border ? Two of the main destinations for these flights were France and Mexico, countries whose borders continue to witness forced and violent migrations today. Skin color, walls and passports, are borders that prevent people in vulnerable situations from finding refuge. Across the continents, people are fleeing to a Northern Wildness where inequality is all more entrenched and where walls are getting bigger. Different testimonies make us reflect on the reality of exile, the transit migration, and the right to a dignified reception.
