Awards
Dock of the Bay will have different sections in its programme. There will be two sections in competition:
- International Feature Film Competition Section: The length of the films must be more than 60 minutes.
- Short Film Competition Section: Films must be no longer than 30 minutes.
Basis
The submitted works must be:
• Non-fiction films on the subject of any aspect of the music world, as well as films experimenting with the limits of conventional narrative, provided that the focus of their discourse is music.
• The duration of the films shall be at least 60 minutes.
• All films selected by the Festival will be presented in their original version, with Spanish subtitles (if the original version of the film is not in Spanish).
• Film submissions will be formalised by the producers, directors, or legal representatives of the works.
• Only films produced more than 12 months prior to the Festival’s opening dates are eligible to participate in the Festival.
• The films selected for the official section must have their premiere in Gipuzkoa at the Dock of the Bay Festival, and must not have been released in commercial theaters, digital platforms or on VOD.
• For their screening, only copies in DCP format will be accepted.
• It is mandatory that DCPs be produced by professional laboratories. In the case that the materials submitted do not have this format, the creation of a DCP will be charged to those responsible of the film.
• In the case of submissions of a DCP through a digital link, the Festival will have a platform available to make this transmission.
• If the DCP is in physical format, shipping costs will be at the expense of the film. As well as the returns of the material.
• Submission deadline: March 15, 2022.
• The selection committee will be in charge of choosing the films that will conform the 2022 Official Selection and will be formed by members determined by the organization.
• These Rules & Regulations are published in English, Basque and Spanish. In the case of doubt, the Spanish version is valid.
• The submission of a film implies the acceptance of the terms and conditions of these guidelines.
