Basque cinema triumphs at the SSIFF!

The 73rd edition of the San Sebastian International Film Festival closes with excellent news for Basque cinema: 'Sundays', by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, has won the festival’s highest honour, the coveted Golden Shell

The 55 selected film of the BBK Mendi Film Bilbao Bizkaia 2025

45 films will compete this year in the Official Section of the BBK Mendi Film Bilbao Bizkaia festival, from December 5th to the 14th. These are films about mountains, adventure, extreme sports and nature, all recent productions, no more than two years old. A total of 226 films have been submitted directly to participate in Bilbao. The nine-part documentary series Euskal Herria Hegan, directed by Lorea Pérez de Albéniz and Javi Gutiérrez Pereda, invites us to rediscover the historical, cultural, and natural richness of the Basque Country from a unique perspective: from the air. The first episode, focused on Gipuzkoa, will premiere as part of the EITB Gala at the 73rd San Sebastian Film Festival, offering audiences an audiovisual experience combining stunning aerial imagery, symphonic music composed specifically for the series, and live performances by local artists.

Underwater cinema on board the Mater this July with CIMASUB!
