BILBAO FANTASY FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES A FANT HONORARY AWARD FOR ACTOR FABIO TESTI
The Italian actor will receive the award during the Festival’s closing gala next Saturday, May 16, at BBK Hall.
Bilbao Fantasy Film Festival – FANT, organized by Bilbao City Council, adds Fabio Testi to the list of award recipients of this 32nd edition. The Italian actor will receive the FANT Honorary Award, a trophy recognizing the career achievements of outstanding professionals in the fantasy and horror genres, during the Festival’s closing gala on May 16 at 7:30 p.m. at BBK Hall.
Fabio Testi thus joins Aránzazu Calleja (FANT Honorary Award), Eugenio Mira (Fantasy Star Award), and Bruno Martin (Fantrobia Award) among this year’s honorees. The actor stars in the film “Reflections in a Dead Diamond”, directed by Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani, which will be screened during the closing gala. Alongside the Italian actor, the cast includes Yannick Renier, Koen De Bouw, Maria de Medeiros, Thi Mai Nguyen, Céline Camara, Kezia Quental, and Sylvia Camarda.
Considered one of the great leading men of Italian cinema, Testi (Peschiera del Garda, 1941) has appeared in a large number of films across many genres — including fantasy and horror — directed by filmmakers from both sides of the Atlantic. His filmography includes “The Garden of the Finzi-Continis” (1971), directed by Vittorio De Sica and winner of the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film; “What Have You Done to Solange?” (1972); “Four of the Apocalypse” (1975); “The Inheritance” (1976); “The Ambassador” (1984); “The Iguana” (1988); and “Road to Nowhere” (2010).
Among his accolades are the Tabernas de Cine Award at the 2024 Almería Western Film Festival and the Saraqusta Award for his acting career at the 2024 Saraqusta Film Festival.
Testi will return to Bilbao thanks to his acting career. He previously stayed in the city while filming “Adiós pequeña” (“Bilbao Blues” internationally), directed by Imanol Uribe and co-starring Ana Belén, Nacho Martínez, and Juan Echanove, among others.
