BILBAO FANTASY FILM FESTIVAL CLOSES WITH THE PRESENTATION OF THE FANT HONORARY AWARD TO FABIO TESTI AND THE FANTROBIA AWARD TO BRUNO MARTÍN
The Italian actor and the Madrid-born director received their awards during the closing gala held yesterday at BBK Hall.
During the event, “Reflections in a Dead Diamond”, directed by Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani and starring Fabio Testi, was screened.
Bilbao Fantasy Film Festival – FANT, organized by Bilbao City Council, brought its 32nd edition to a close with the closing gala held yesterday evening at BBK Hall. T
he event was attended by Gonzalo Olabarria, Councillor for Culture and Governance; Amaia Domingo, Director of FANT; members of the Municipal Corporation; as well as representatives from Bilbao’s cultural sector and civil society.
The gala also featured the presence of actor Fabio Testi, recipient of the FANT Honorary Award in recognition of his extensive career in cinema, and director Bruno Martín, recipient of the FANTROBIA Award, which recognizes an emerging figure in genre cinema. Both received their awards during the Festival’s closing ceremony.
The evening concluded with the screening of “Reflections in a Dead Diamond” (2025), directed by Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani, featuring Fabio Testi in a leading role.
THE AWARD RECIPIENTS: FABIO TESTI AND BRUNO MARTÍN
Considered one of the great heartthrobs of Italian cinema, Fabio Testi (Peschiera del Garda, 1941) has appeared in a large number of films across a wide range of genres, including fantasy and horror, working with directors from both sides of the Atlantic. His filmography includes “The Garden of the Finzi-Continis” (1971), directed by Vittorio De Sica and winner of the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film; “What Have You Done to Solange?” (1972); “Four of the Apocalypse” (1975); “The Inheritance of Ferramonti” (1976); “The Ambassador” (1984); “The Iguana” (1988); and “Road to Nowhere” (2010).
Among his accolades are the Tabernas de Cine Award at the 2024 Almería Western Film Festival and the Saraqusta Award for his acting career at the 2024 Saraqusta Film Festival.
Bruno Martín, a director, screenwriter, editor, and actor from Madrid, built his career in advertising and web series. As an actor, he has appeared in film and television productions such as “En Fin”, “Patria”, “Acacias 38”, “Riders”, “Dos vidas”, and the feature film “The Last Train to Rock and Roll” (2021). In 2014, he met David Sainz, creator of “Malviviendo”, beginning a professional collaboration both as an actor in nearly all of Sainz’s projects and as co-screenwriter on several of them. This collaboration led to series such as “Mambo”, “Grasa”, “Entertainment”, and the independent feature film “Fogueo” (2017).
In 2023, he produced the feature film “Os reviento”, directed by Kike Narcea, which accumulated nearly 20 awards, including the Audience Award for Best Film in the Midnight X-Treme section at the Sitges Film Festival that same year. In 2024, he wrote, directed, edited, produced, and acted in the award-winning film “Luger”, premiered at Sitges 2025 and also screened as part of the FANT Bilbao program.
FANT award-winning films will be screened this afternoon at BBK Hall in two sessions. The first session, at 5:00 p.m., will feature the award winners from the Fantasy Panorama Section. Afterwards, at 7:30 p.m., the prize-winning titles from the Official Section will be shown.
